Fight for climate justice with women in Saloum Delta
Vulnerable islands and coastal areas face climate challenges such as marine invasions, water salinization, and ecosystem degradation. To strengthen the capacities of changemakers and activists leading the fight for climate justice in the coastal strips of Senegal, we organized a week-long climate justice camp in the islands of the Saloum Delta between November 25 -29, 2023.
In collaboration with our partner, JVE Senegal, we mobilized over 400 individuals from 13 women's and youth-led organizations at the forefront of the fight against climate change in the region. The event facilitated days of incredible exchange and sustainable collaboration, aiming to foster the emergence of new means of climate-resilient local action in the Saloum Delta.
In this video, our partner, Adja Gaye shares more insight on why taking climate action is urgent for women in the Saloum Delta.
